Lach-Space Verdict

Is the programme a complete, internally consistent, provably true theory? The question bundles three that come apart, and only one of them earns a yes.

The theory is internally consistent. It is not complete, and it is not provably true.

Complete?

No

O1 is answered, negatively: the limit need not be smooth. O2 is solved for gravity. The Lorentzian sector is blocked unconditionally. The matter sector's per-node isotropy is closed — a random-orientation tight frame satisfies it exactly and still gives a round limit. No observable separates the theory from GR + QFT.

Internally consistent?

Yes

Status tags now equal what the proofs support, the dependency graph is acyclic, and each gap is stated once instead of smeared across Conditional labels.

Provably true?

No

O1 is false as stated and no observable distinguishes the theory from GR + QFT, so the theory is not even a candidate to be true in the physical sense. The finite algebra is now machine-checked, but that verifies internal consistency, not truth.

Consistency is a cheap property. It rules out self-contradiction, not error. A theory can be flawlessly consistent and false. The v4 pass bought internal consistency; it did not buy truth.

The problem that is not about completeness

Recovery, not emergence

Theorem C4 exhibits a graph sequence whose mGH limit is (M, g). Read what it does: it takes (M, g) as input, sprinkles points on it, and joins them by the geodesic distance d_g.

That is a consistency result — the graph remembers the manifold it was built from. It is a real improvement on the chart-embedded version, because the limit is genuine mGH and not a functional of an embedding. It is still not emergence: the theory does not derive the metric from the graph. This is now a theorem (ANSWER_03, Theorem 03.A): the same abstract graph with a different tension field has a non-isometric limit, so the metric is a function of the tension, not of the graph.

And the theory makes no prediction that separates it from general relativity plus quantum field theory at any accessible energy. Its distinctive content sits at the Planck scale; its observable claims were withdrawn. A theory that cannot be wrong is not yet a physical theory.

The gap ledger

Every item, with its resolution and what remains

Item Status What is proved What blocks it
O2 — recovery sequenceH14 · CONSTRUCTION.md C4 Solved · gravity An isotropic random geometric graph (Poisson D-NN, tension = edge length) at bounded degree satisfies L1–L5, H1′, H3, H4′, H12′, H13 and yields the Riemannian limit (M, g). Modulo the published continuum shape theorem — Yao–Chen–Guo, J. Appl. Probab. 48 (2011) 154–172; Cox–Durrett (1981) for the lattice — transferred to C4's D-nearest-neighbour graph by the sandwich proved in C4.1b. The matter sector is closed by the same class of theorem (ANSWER_05): a D = d+1 tight frame (the regular simplex) with random orientation satisfies H15(d) exactly at bounded degree, with uniform tension, and its local law is *exactly* uniform — so it needs only the same class of shape theorem C4 cites, not a new kind of gap.
O1 — smoothness of the mGH limitH10 · ANSWER_02 False as stated A QSN sequence satisfying every hypothesis can have a limit that is a topological manifold with a codimension-2 conical singularity (a flat cone), with curvature R = (2π/3)·δ_apex. H12 cannot detect it: the defect is measure zero, contribution 1/r² → 0. Not a missing argument — the statement is false. The Cheeger–Colding codimension-2 bound is sharp. The limit is either smooth or has a codimension-2 singular set; no axiom selects one.
Observable prediction01 · a claim that could fail None — proved A formal prediction exists: a universal, even, subluminal quartic dispersion correction, ξ_MDR = 1/(4(d+2)) for a uniform law. Unobservable by 20+ orders of magnitude at every accessible momentum; and not fixed by the axioms — the octahedron and the sphere both satisfy H12 with ξ_MDR ∈ [1/36, 1/12] vs 1/20. No observable can test it.
Emergence of g03 · recovered, not emergent Recovery only Where a metric emerges, it is the second moment of the tension field; the C4 construction reads g off the manifold twice (sprinkle on (M,g); T = θ·d_g). The metric is not a function of the graph: the same abstract graph ℤ² with T ≡ 1 gives the ℓ¹ plane, with T = (1,2) gives a non-isometric rhombus. Curvature needs a spatially varying field, i.e. g itself.
Lorentzian curvature transferTheorem C1 Obstruction proved A positive combination of causal outer products is positive semidefinite; no positive semidefinite form is proportional to an indefinite metric. Proof supplied. Nothing to block — it is a signature fact. Its consequence is that the Lorentzian action is reached only through the Wick rotation of Chapter 21.
Matter-sector recoveryper-node isotropy H15(d) · ANSWER_05 Closed · shares C4's shape thm Per-node isotropy H15(d) is orientation-invariant: a D-fold tight frame has Σ v̂⊗v̂ = (D/2)I and Σ v̂ = 0 for every orientation. So H15(d) does not force a fixed stencil — it constrains each node's direction-set shape, not its orientation. A fixed stencil does give a D-gon limit (defect sec(π/D)−1), but a D = d+1 tight frame (the regular simplex) with random orientation and uniform tension satisfies H15(d) exactly at every node and has a round limit — bounded degree, no tension fine-tuning. Verified: the angular profile is flat for random orientation (amplitude → 0, exponent ≈ −0.33) and 10-fold modulated for the fixed stencil. Gravity acts on the convex hull (rounded by randomizing orientation); matter acts on the second moment (isotropic for any orientation); the two never conflicted.
H-cf — causal fractionLorentzian hypothesis Holds · reference families Tested on 1+1D bounded-degree causal sprinklings: the causal future occupies ≈ 0.05 of the undirected ball at D = 4, bounded away from zero. Not empty, contrary to the earlier worry — but φ₀ is density- and degree-dependent, so the honest form is H-cf(D). Numerical evidence, not a proof.
E-Lor · H-BE / N₀the remaining hypotheses Conjecture · blocked E-Lor is used only where the proved one-sided inequality already suffices — not load-bearing. E-Lor would need a new timelike regularity hypothesis. H-BE / N₀ is blocked by a counterexample (the weighted manifold with non-constant V) and by the falsity of H10. Permanent.
L6 — proper-time postulateτ(e) = 2πħ/Δ(e) Postulate A consistency witness exists: the postulate is not contradicted by the rest of the structure. Not derived. The KMS / modular-flow derivation was withdrawn, and no replacement is known. The theory's time is put in by hand.

What this pass did prove

Finite algebra is machine-checked; the analysis is not

What would change the answer

Each lever is now closed; these are what would revive the programme

  1. One observable that differs from GR + QFT. Closed negatively: 01 proves none exists at accessible energy, and the one formal prediction's coefficient is not fixed by the axioms. Reviving it needs a new regulator principle, and one that predicts a number.
  2. A proof that the mGH limit is smooth. Closed negatively: 02 shows the limit can be a cone. A revival needs a new axiom excluding conical defects — e.g. trivial local holonomy — and a physical reason for it.
  3. A construction that yields g without presupposing it. Closed negatively: 03 shows the metric is a function of the tension field, which is posited, not derived. Reviving it means deriving the tension field itself from the matter sector — a derivation the axioms do not supply.
