# 0. Purpose and reading rules

## 0.1. What this document is

This is a self-contained, physics-first statement of the Lach-Space programme. It says what the theory posits, what it proves, what it postulates, and what it leaves open. It is written to survive adversarial reading: every non-trivial claim is either derived here, cross-referenced to the Monograph and its Proofs Companion (Datacraft, April 2026), or explicitly labelled as postulate, conjecture, or phenomenology.

This document does not replace the Monograph. It clarifies the physical logic that the Monograph presents in mathematical order, and it fixes the epistemic status of every load-bearing claim.

## 0.2. Status vocabulary

Every numbered claim carries one of six tags, used with the discipline of the Monograph:

* **Theorem.** Proved from first principles or from an explicitly invoked classical result of mathematics whose hypotheses are checked in context.
* **Theorem modulo Classical(X).** Proved conditionally on named theorems of classical geometry, analysis, or representation theory (e.g. Gromov precompactness, Kazhdan-Lusztig). We invoke, we do not re-derive.
* **Conditional.** Proved under an explicit, minimal set of hypotheses stated with the result.
* **Postulate.** A modelling assumption of the theory, not derived. Motivated but not proved.
* **Conjecture.** A statement believed true and defended, whose proof is not available.
* **Phenomenological.** An empirical proposal or estimate, not derived from prior theorems.

If a passage sounds stronger than its tag, the tag wins.

## 0.3. The one-paragraph theory

Lach-Space is a background-independent programme of quantum gravity. Its fundamental object is a locally finite directed acyclic graph, the Quantum Spacetime Network (QSN), whose nodes carry Planck-scale Hilbert factors and whose edges carry algebraic holonomy data for gravity and for the Standard Model gauge group. A single energy functional, built from a discrete Ricci curvature (Ollivier's) and an edge tension, governs the graph dynamics. Classical Lorentzian geometry, general relativity with matter source, chiral fermions without lattice doublers, an ultraviolet non-Gaussian fixed point of the renormalization group at truncated level, an unimodular decomposition that isolates the cosmological constant from radiative corrections, and a hyperfinite operator-algebraic edge structure supporting a Page curve at the coarse-mechanism level, are all conjectured to follow from this single substrate in appropriate limits. Some of these claims are theorems (with conditions); several are conjectures; the empirical predictions are phenomenological.

# 1. Motivation: why a discrete algebraic substrate

## 1.1. The obstruction that every candidate theory must face

The Einstein-Hilbert action expanded around Minkowski space fails to be renormalizable at two loops (Goroff-Sagnotti 1986; 't Hooft-Veltman 1974): a counterterm proportional to the square of the Riemann-cubed invariant appears whose coefficient cannot be absorbed. The obstruction is ultraviolet. Every candidate quantum theory of gravity therefore commits to a mechanism that tames the geometry at the Planck scale.

Three mature strategies have dominated:

* **String theory** replaces the point particle by a one-dimensional extended object and exchanges the divergences of point-like gravity for the modular-invariant amplitudes of worldsheet CFT. Its outstanding difficulty is the absence of a completely realistic low-energy vacuum.
* **Loop quantum gravity** quantises Ashtekar's canonical variables and predicts discrete spectra for geometric observables. Its outstanding difficulty is the derivation of classical Einstein equations in a controlled continuum limit.
* **Asymptotic safety** conjectures that gravity flows to an ultraviolet interacting fixed point with finitely many relevant directions. Its outstanding difficulty is truncation control of the exact flow.

Complementary programmes (causal set theory, causal dynamical triangulations, group field theory, entropic/emergent gravity) contribute conceptual advances but no decisive candidate.

## 1.2. Lach-Space's bet

Lach-Space commits to the following physical proposition:

*The microstates of quantum gravity are not manifolds. They are countable combinatorial-algebraic objects. What we experience as smooth spacetime is a coarse-grained observable on those microstates, well-defined only in a suitable continuum limit.*

If this proposition is right, the UV problem is dissolved rather than solved: there is no small-distance limit to take at the microscopic level, because there is no small distance. The engineering task is inverted: instead of showing that a UV-finite quantum theory exists on manifolds, one shows that Lorentzian manifolds re-emerge as coarse observables in the infrared.

This is the same physical instinct as causal set theory (Bombelli-Lee-Meyer-Sorkin 1987) and CDT (Ambjorn-Jurkiewicz-Loll 2012). Lach-Space's addition is algebraic: the discrete substrate carries not only causal-order data but also Hilbert-space factors and gauge holonomies at every edge. The programme is committed to synthetic Ricci curvature (Lott-Sturm-Villani 2006-2009; Kunzinger-Sämann 2018; Cavalletti-Mondino 2020) as the mathematical bridge from the discrete substrate to smooth Lorentzian geometry.

## 1.3. What this buys the theory

Four things:

1. **UV finiteness is structural.** Local finiteness (bounded valence) makes every information-theoretic quantity in the theory well-defined without regulator.
2. **Causality is fundamental, not derived.** The DAG's partial order is the microscopic causal order; the Lorentzian signature and light cones are macroscopic reconstructions.
3. **Gauge and gravity live on the same substrate.** Every edge carries both a `Spin(4,1)` gravitational holonomy and a `SU(3)×SU(2)×U(1)` Standard Model holonomy. Their unification is not required by embedding into a larger simple group; it is imposed by shared kinematics.
4. **Synthetic-geometric tools apply.** Once Ollivier curvature is bounded below, a mature toolkit (volume doubling, Poincare, heat kernel, curvature-dimension, Gromov-Hausdorff-Lorentz precompactness) becomes available.

The cost is that continuum limits become theorems to prove, not axioms to impose. The Monograph, Companion, and the present document are the record of that programme.

# 2. Kinematics: the QSN

## 2.1. The six core axioms

The Monograph states these as L1-L6. We restate them here with their physical role explicit.

**L1 (Discrete causal structure).** The fundamental object is a locally finite directed acyclic graph $\mathsf{Q}=(N,E)$. The transitive closure of $E$ defines a partial order $\preceq$ on $N$, the microscopic causal order.

*Role.* L1 encodes two ideas: causality is prior to metric, and the substrate is finitary. Local finiteness prevents information-theoretic pathologies without a smoothness assumption.

**L2 (Edge tension).** Each directed edge $e\in E$ carries a non-negative scalar $T(e)\in[0,\infty)$.

*Role.* $T(e)$ is the microscopic weight of an elementary causal link. It supplies the metric via L4 and the action via L5.

**L3 (Ollivier-Ricci curvature).** The discrete Ricci curvature at $e=(n,m)$ is
$$\mathcal{K}(e)=1-\frac{W_1(\mu_n,\mu_m)}{d_G(n,m)},$$
with $\mu_n$ the normalised counting measure on the out-neighbours of $n$, $W_1$ the 1-Wasserstein distance, and $d_G$ the graph geodesic distance.

*Role.* Ollivier's $\mathcal{K}$ is a genuine discrete geometric quantity: on smooth manifolds Poisson-sprinkled at density $\rho\to\infty$ it recovers the continuum Ricci curvature (van der Hoorn-Lippner-Saucan 2021). It is the input to every synthetic curvature-dimension argument below.

**L4 (Metric emergence).** The effective distance between causally related nodes is
$$d_{\mathrm{eff}}(n,m)=\inf_{\gamma:n\to m}\sum_{e\in\gamma}T(e)^{-1}.$$

*Role.* L4 is a formal definition. Its physical content is that shorter effective distances correspond to stronger edges.

**L5 (Energy functional and gradient flow).** The Lach-Space energy is
$$E[\mathsf{Q}]=\sum_{e\in E}T(e)\,\mathcal{K}(e),$$
and the graph evolves under the gradient flow $\mathrm{d}\mathsf{Q}/\mathrm{d}s=-\nabla E[\mathsf{Q}]$ in the configuration space of locally finite directed graphs of bounded degree.

*Role.* L5 is the discrete analogue of the Einstein-Hilbert action. Chapter 8 of the Monograph shows that its Γ-limit is the Einstein-Hilbert action of general relativity, conditional on the classical inputs named in §5.

**L6 (Proper-time postulate).** Each edge carries a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}_e$ and a self-adjoint edge Hamiltonian $H_e$ with discrete spectrum and strictly positive spectral gap $\Delta(e)=\lambda_1(e)-\lambda_0(e)>0$. The proper time across the edge is postulated to be
$$\tau(e)=\frac{2\pi\hbar}{\Delta(e)}.$$

*Role.* L6 is a **Postulate**, not a theorem. Its physical motivation is discussed in §2.4.

## 2.2. Node structure

Each node $n\in N$ carries a Hilbert space
$$\mathcal{H}_n=\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{geo}}(n)\otimes\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{mat}}(n).$$

The geometric factor $\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{geo}}(n)$ is the gauge-invariant subspace of the tensor product of $\mathrm{SU}(2)$ spin networks on the incident edges (Ashtekar-Lewandowski 2004). The Ashtekar-Lewandowski volume operator $\widehat{V}_n$ acts here with discrete spectrum of order $\ell_P^3$.

The matter factor $\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{mat}}(n)$ is the Fock space of Standard Model matter excitations at the node: 48 Weyl fermions per generation of the SM (including a right-handed neutrino), the Higgs doublet, and any auxiliary bosonic content the model requires. Canonical anti-commutation relations are imposed at each node.

## 2.3. Edge structure

Each directed edge $e=(n,m)\in E$ carries a Hilbert space
$$\mathcal{H}_e=\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{grav}}(e)\otimes\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{gauge}}(e),$$
with $\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{grav}}(e)=L^2(\mathrm{Spin}(4,1))$ carrying a gravitational holonomy and $\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{gauge}}(e)=L^2(\mathrm{SU}(3)_c\times\mathrm{SU}(2)_L\times\mathrm{U}(1)_Y)$ carrying a Standard Model holonomy. Both act by left multiplication on the group algebra.

The kinematical total Hilbert space is
$$\mathcal{H}_{\mathsf{Q}}=\Big(\bigotimes_{n\in N}\mathcal{H}_n\Big)\otimes\Big(\bigotimes_{e\in E}\mathcal{H}_e\Big),$$
and gauge invariance under $\mathrm{Spin}(4,1)\times G_{\mathrm{SM}}$ at each node cuts out the physical subspace $\mathcal{H}_{\mathsf{Q}}^{\mathrm{phys}}$ by group averaging, in the standard Ashtekar-Lewandowski manner.

## 2.4. The proper-time postulate: honest scope

The v1.0 of the Monograph claimed to derive $\tau(e)=2\pi\hbar/\Delta(e)$ from the KMS condition and the Bisognano-Wichmann theorem. A referee correctly observed that the derivation confuses a property of a state (KMS temperature) with a property of a Hamiltonian's spectrum, and that in the trace state of a Type $\mathrm{II}_1$ factor the modular flow is trivial. That derivation is withdrawn.

L6 is presented in this document, and in Monograph v2.0, as a **Postulate**. Its physical support is threefold:

1. *Rabi period.* A two-level subsystem spanned by the lowest two eigenstates of $H_e$ has bare Rabi period $2\pi\hbar/\Delta(e)$. Identifying the proper-time increment across $e$ with one Rabi period is dimensionally consistent and natural.
2. *Unruh-DeWitt detector.* A two-level detector with gap $\Delta$ coupled to a scalar field in Minkowski space responds on a timescale $\sim 2\pi\hbar/\Delta$. Transplanting this scale to the edge Hamiltonian motivates the same identification.
3. *Bohr-Sommerfeld.* The minimum action of a closed cycle in phase space is $2\pi\hbar$; identifying the proper-time cycle with this minimum yields the same functional form.

None of the three is a proof. Together they identify $2\pi\hbar/\Delta$ as the natural single spectral scale.

**Proposition 2.1 (Uniqueness up to a global constant).** *Conditional on the functional-form ansatz $\tau(e)=c/\Delta(e)$ and GHL convergence to a common smooth Lorentzian manifold, the constant $c$ is determined up to identity. Two proper-time assignments of this form that converge to isometric Lorentzian metrics coincide.*

*Proof sketch.* Two Lorentzian distance functions differing by a global constant multiplicative factor correspond, under Kunzinger-Sämann reconstruction, to Lorentzian metrics related by a constant Weyl rescaling; if both GHL limits are isometric to the same manifold, the factor is unity. Full argument in Companion §3.1. Details in Monograph §6.4. $\square$

**Conjecture 2.2 (Combinatorial-spectral rigidity).** *Any two proper-time assignments satisfying the reverse Lorentzian triangle inequality and yielding GHL-convergent rescaled sequences to the same smooth Lorentzian manifold agree up to a global positive constant, without the functional-form ansatz.*

Conjecture 2.2 upgrades Proposition 2.1 to full spectral rigidity. It is open.

## 2.5. The graph-local Hamiltonian

The total Hamiltonian decomposes as
$$H_{\mathsf{Q}}=H_{\mathrm{geo}}+H_{\mathrm{ent}}+H_{\mathrm{gauge}}+H_{\mathrm{mat}},$$
with each term explicit.

* $H_{\mathrm{geo}}=\tfrac{1}{2}\alpha_{\mathrm{geo}}\sum_n\mathrm{tr}(\widehat{C}^{(2)}_n)+\sum_n V(\widehat{V}_n)$: a quadratic $\mathrm{SU}(2)$ Casimir at each node, plus a stabilising volume potential with minimum at $\ell_P^3$ (Thiemann 1998).
* $H_{\mathrm{ent}}=-\lambda\sum_{(n,m)\in E}(\widehat{E}_{nm}+\widehat{E}_{nm}^\dagger)$: an entanglement Hamiltonian whose edge-creation operators increase the Schmidt rank between endpoint Hilbert factors by one unit (Hayden-Nezami-Qi-Thomas-Walter-Yang 2016).
* $H_{\mathrm{gauge}}=-\frac{1}{g_s^2}\sum_{\square}\mathrm{tr}(\widehat{U}_\square+\widehat{U}_\square^\dagger)-t\sum_{e,I}(\psi_I^\dagger(n)\widehat{U}_{\mathrm{SM}}(e)\psi_I(m)+\mathrm{h.c.})$: Kogut-Susskind plaquette and fermion-hopping terms (Kogut-Susskind 1975).
* $H_{\mathrm{mat}}$: node-local polynomial in matter creation/annihilation operators, including Yukawa and Higgs terms.

The Hamiltonian is not the load-bearing object in the continuum-limit theorems; the action functional built from L5 is. The Hamiltonian sets the microscopic dynamics on which state-dependent statements (correlators, edge-mode algebras) are made.

# 3. Reconstruction of Lorentzian geometry

## 3.1. What must be shown

Given the discrete substrate, three physical questions must be answered:

1. Is there a natural pseudo-metric on $N$ that limits to a smooth Lorentzian metric?
2. Under what hypotheses on the QSN does the limit exist?
3. Is the limit unique?

## 3.2. The pseudo-metric on the QSN

Define, on causally related pairs $(n,m)\in\preceq$,
$$d_\tau(n,m)=\sup_{\gamma:n\to m}\sum_{e\in\gamma}\tau(e).$$
The supremum runs over directed paths from $n$ to $m$. This is the discrete Lorentzian distance: the longest chain of proper times. It is a direct causal-set analogue of the continuum time separation.

**Lemma 3.1 (Lorentzian pre-length space).** *[Theorem.]* *Under L1, L6, and structural hypothesis (H1: bounded valence), the quadruple $(N,\preceq,d_\tau,\mu)$ with $\mu$ counting measure is a Lorentzian pre-length space in the sense of Kunzinger and Sämann (Ann. Glob. Anal. Geom. 54 (2018) 399).*

*Proof.* Lower semicontinuity is trivial on a discrete set. The reverse Lorentzian triangle inequality follows from path concatenation and the supremum. Local finiteness ensures the supremum is attained on any bounded chain. Full statement in Companion §2.1. $\square$

Lemma 3.1 is unconditional in Lach-Space's sense: L1 and H1 are structural, not analytic, hypotheses. The theory therefore begins in a fully rigorous corner of synthetic Lorentzian geometry.

## 3.3. The volume-doubling theorem

Volume doubling is the analytic backbone of every continuum-limit argument. Every synthetic-geometry theorem (Bishop-Gromov, Poincare, heat-kernel bounds, Gromov precompactness) requires it.

The hypothesis list is the following refinement of the core axioms:

* (H1') Bounded valence and bilateral tension bounds: $\deg(n)\leq D$, $0<T_{\min}\leq T(e)\leq T_{\max}<\infty$.
* (H2) Uniform Ollivier bound: $\mathcal{K}(e)\geq K$ for some fixed $K\in\mathbb{R}$.
* (H3) Finite diameter: $\mathrm{diam}(N)\leq T<\infty$.
* (H4') Isoperimetric dimension: there exist $N_0\geq 3$ and $C_{\mathrm{iso}}>0$ such that $|\partial B|/|B|^{(N_0-1)/N_0}\geq C_{\mathrm{iso}}$ for every finite $B\subset N$ with $|B|\leq|N|/2$.

**Lemma 3.2 (QSN volume doubling).** *[Theorem, unconditional.]* *Under (H1'), (H2), (H4') on a QSN satisfying L1, L2, L4, L5, there exists a doubling constant $C_{\mathrm{dbl}}=C_{\mathrm{dbl}}(D,K,N_0,T_{\max}/T_{\min},C_{\mathrm{iso}})$ such that the graph balls satisfy $|B(n,2r)|\leq C_{\mathrm{dbl}}|B(n,r)|$ for all $n$ and all $r$ up to the diameter.*

*Proof.* Coulhon-Grigor'yan isoperimetric-to-Sobolev equivalence, applied to the QSN discrete Laplacian, plus Varopoulos ultracontractivity for the discrete heat semigroup, plus a Davies-Gaffney Gaussian upper bound, yields doubling in the standard synthesis. Every step is a classical result of discrete analysis with the hypothesis list checked against (H1'), (H2), (H4'). Details in Companion §2.3. $\square$

Lemma 3.2 is the crucial technical unlock. It bounds volume growth without appealing to any Ricci-lower-bound synthetic theorem: it is proved from first principles of discrete analysis.

Its timelike analogue Lemma 3.2' holds under the additional hypothesis (H5: spectral non-degeneracy of $H_e$), proved in Companion §2.5 by adapting the same chain to directed graph Laplacians.

## 3.4. The Riemannian continuum limit

**Theorem 3.3 (Continuum limit, Riemannian).** *[Theorem modulo three classical results.]* *Let $(\mathsf{Q}_n)$ be a sequence of QSNs satisfying (H1'), (H2), (H3), (H4') uniformly, with edge tensions rescaled by $T_n(e)=nT(e)$ and Ollivier bound $\mathcal{K}_n(e)\geq K>0$. Then there exists a compact Riemannian manifold $(\mathcal{R},g)$ of dimension $d=N_0$ with $\mathrm{Ric}\geq Kg$, sectional curvature bounded above, and diameter bounded, and a subsequence such that*
$$(\mathsf{Q}_{n_k},n_k^{-1}d_{\mathrm{eff},n_k},\mu_{n_k})\xrightarrow{\mathrm{mGH}}(\mathcal{R},g,\mathrm{vol}_g)$$
*in the measured Gromov-Hausdorff topology on the rectifiable regular set of $\mathcal{R}$.*

*Classical inputs invoked (ClassicalA-C).*

* ClassicalA: Gromov precompactness theorem for metric spaces with uniform doubling and diameter bound.
* ClassicalB: Erbar-Maas discrete-to-continuous transfer of curvature-dimension bounds on bounded-degree graphs.
* ClassicalC: Cheeger-Colding regularity theorem for non-collapsed $\mathrm{CD}(K,N)$ limits, extracting a smooth Riemannian manifold on the regular set.

*Proof structure.* Volume doubling from Lem. 3.2, combined with the diameter bound (H3), gives ClassicalA. The uniform Ollivier bound (H2) transfers to a synthetic $\mathrm{CD}(K,N_0)$ bound on the mGH limit via ClassicalB. The non-collapsing estimate from Lem. 3.2 yields non-collapsed limit; ClassicalC extracts a smooth Riemannian manifold on the regular set. Local dimension from (H4') matches Hausdorff dimension of tangent cones. Full derivation in Companion §2.4. $\square$

The status "Theorem modulo ClassicalA-C" is honest: the three named results are canonical theorems of synthetic geometry that the Lach-Space programme does not re-derive. What the programme establishes is that they *apply*: the QSN sequence satisfies their hypotheses, and their conclusions give continuum Riemannian geometry.

## 3.5. The Lorentzian continuum limit

**Theorem 3.4 (Continuum limit, Lorentzian).** *[Theorem modulo three classical results.]* *Let $(\mathsf{Q}_n)$ be a sequence of QSNs satisfying (H1'), (H2), (H3), (H4'), (H5) uniformly, with proper-time Ollivier bound $\mathcal{K}_\tau\geq K$. Then there exists a smooth globally hyperbolic Lorentzian manifold $(\mathcal{M},g^L)$ of dimension $d=N_0$ satisfying the timelike curvature-dimension condition $\mathrm{TCD}_1(K,N_0)$, and a subsequence such that*
$$(\mathsf{Q}_{n_k},d_{\tau,n_k},\mu_{n_k})\xrightarrow{\mathrm{GHL}}(\mathcal{M},d_{g^L},\mathrm{vol}_{g^L})$$
*in the Gromov-Hausdorff-Lorentz topology.*

*Classical inputs invoked (ClassicalA-C-Lor).*

* ClassicalA-Lor: Kunzinger-Sämann-Minguzzi-Suhr GHL precompactness for Lorentzian pre-length spaces with uniform timelike volume doubling and diameter bound.
* ClassicalB-Lor: Cavalletti-Mondino discrete-to-continuous TCD transfer, extended by Braun-Ohta 2024 to the directed-Laplacian setting.
* ClassicalC-Lor: Beran-Braun-Calisti-Gigli-McCann-Ohanyan-Rott-Sämann regularity theorem for non-collapsed TCD limits.

Of the three, ClassicalC-Lor is currently in active research: the smoothness regularity of TCD limits in Lorentzian signature is the least mature step. The Lach-Space programme is committed to using whatever regularity theorem is eventually established for non-collapsed TCD limits. The other two inputs are canonical.

**Corollary 3.5 (Uniqueness).** *[Theorem, inherited from 3.4.]* *The continuum Lorentzian manifold $(\mathcal{M},g^L)$ is unique up to isometry.*

*Proof.* Minguzzi-Suhr Hausdorff separation of the GHL topology on isometry classes of compact Lorentzian pre-length spaces. $\square$

## 3.6. Physical interpretation

Continuum Lorentzian geometry emerges as a coarse observable of the QSN under a scaling limit. The continuum metric encodes the collective statistics of proper times on directed paths; the continuum Ricci curvature encodes the aggregate Ollivier curvature of the discrete substrate. The status of the emergent geometry is exactly the status of the classical inputs invoked: contingent on the mature synthetic-geometric machinery, unconditional on any Lach-Space-specific new mathematics.

Two limitations are inherent:

* **Rectifiable regularity, not smooth manifold globally.** The GHL limit decomposes as regular set (smooth manifold) plus singular set of causal codimension at least 2. Additional hypotheses (uniform scalar curvature bound, smoothness of local dimension) upgrade the regular part to $C^{1,\alpha}$ (Cheeger-Naber 2015).
* **Non-branching timelike geodesics (H7)** is assumed for the TCD condition. QSNs violating (H7) yield only the reduced TCD condition and an almost-everywhere Ricci bound.

Neither limitation is a hidden pathology; both are inherited from mature synthetic geometry.

# 4. Emergence of general relativity

## 4.1. The QSN action and its scaling

The QSN action is the covariant sum
$$S_{\mathsf{Q}}=\sum_{n\in N}V(\widehat{V}_n)\,\mathrm{tr}(\widehat{C}^{(2)}_n)+\sum_{e\in E}T(e)\mathcal{K}(e)+S_{\mathrm{mat}}+S_{\mathrm{gauge}}.$$

We define the rescaled action
$$\mathcal{S}_n=\alpha_d\,n^{2-d}\sum_{e\in E_n}T_n(e)\mathcal{K}_n(e),\qquad\alpha_d=\frac{2(d+2)}{16\pi G},$$
where the coefficient $\alpha_d$ is fixed by the Ollivier pointwise asymptotic expansion below.

## 4.2. Γ-convergence to Einstein-Hilbert

**Theorem 4.1 (Γ-convergence of the QSN action).** *[Theorem modulo ClassicalA-C-Lor + ClassicalD + ClassicalE.]* *Let $(\mathsf{Q}_n)$ satisfy the hypotheses of Theorem 3.4, with GHL limit $(\mathcal{M},g^L)$. Then in the GHL topology,*
$$\lim_{n\to\infty}\mathcal{S}_n=\frac{1}{16\pi G}\int_{\mathcal{M}}(R-2\Lambda)\sqrt{-g}\,\mathrm{d}^dx+\int_{\mathcal{M}}\mathcal{L}_{\mathrm{mat}}\sqrt{-g}\,\mathrm{d}^dx,$$
*and the classical equations of motion are Einstein's equations with matter source,*
$$R_{\mu\nu}-\tfrac{1}{2}Rg_{\mu\nu}+\Lambda g_{\mu\nu}=8\pi G\langle\widehat{T}_{\mu\nu}\rangle.$$

*New classical inputs invoked.*

* ClassicalD: Alicandro-Cicalese-Gloria Γ-convergence theorem for discrete-to-continuum energies on random geometric graphs (Arch. Rat. Mech. Anal. 200 (2011) 881).
* ClassicalE: Ollivier pointwise asymptotic expansion. On a smooth Lorentzian manifold, the Ollivier curvature of the causal geodesic random walk of radius $r$ satisfies
$$\mathcal{K}^{(r)}(x,y)=\frac{r^2\,\mathrm{Ric}(v,v)}{2(d+2)}+O(r^3),$$
following Ollivier (2009) with the Sämann-McCann Lorentzian extension (Adv. Math. 2024).

*Proof structure.* Step 1: ClassicalE gives the local Ricci-curvature content of Ollivier at each smooth point. Step 2: Theorem 3.4 gives volume convergence in the GHL topology. Step 3: ClassicalD gives Γ-convergence of the rescaled discrete action with the recovery sequence constructed by Poisson sprinkling at density $n^d$. Step 4: The Euler-Lagrange equations of the Γ-limit are Einstein's equations by the Palatini identity. Details in Companion §5.1. $\square$

*Physical reading.* Einstein equations are recovered as an expectation-value equation. Semiclassical back-reaction is suppressed by $\ell_P^2/L^2$ where $L$ is the curvature scale. The cosmological constant term appears with a coefficient that is a boundary condition of the flow, treated in §7 below.

## 4.3. Newtonian limit and Bianchi identity

Bianchi identity $\nabla^\mu G_{\mu\nu}=0$ is automatic on the continuum limit from diffeomorphism invariance of the Einstein-Hilbert action; at the QSN level it is the discrete $\mathrm{Spin}(4,1)$ gauge invariance at each node. Matter conservation $\nabla^\mu T_{\mu\nu}=0$ is the same statement for $S_{\mathrm{mat}}$. The Newtonian limit reproduces $\nabla^2\Phi=4\pi G\rho$ from the leading $\langle\widehat{V}_n\rangle$ expectation values modulated by matter proximity.

# 5. Chiral fermions without doublers

## 5.1. The Nielsen-Ninomiya obstruction and its escape route

On a translation-invariant Euclidean lattice, no local Hermitian translation-invariant lattice Dirac operator preserves chiral symmetry without doubler species (Nielsen-Ninomiya 1981). The QSN evades this because it is not translation-invariant: the graph carries position-dependent curvature and does not commute with a lattice translation group.

## 5.2. The overlap Dirac operator on the QSN

The overlap Dirac operator (Neuberger 1998) adapted to the QSN is
$$D_{\mathrm{ov}}=\frac{1}{\ell_P}\big(\mathbb{1}+\gamma^5\,\mathrm{sign}(H_{\mathrm{W}})\big),$$
where the Hermitian Wilson operator is
$$H_{\mathrm{W}}=\gamma^5\sum_\mu\big(\gamma^\mu\nabla_\mu^{\mathrm{QSN}}-\tfrac{r}{2}\ell_P(\nabla^{\mathrm{QSN}})^2\big),$$
and $\nabla^{\mathrm{QSN}}$ is the QSN covariant derivative along directed edges.

**Theorem 5.1 (Overlap-operator spectral theorem).** *[Theorem modulo ClassicalI + ClassicalJ + ClassicalK.]* *Let $\mathsf{Q}$ satisfy L1, L6, (H1), (H1'), (H2), (H3), (H3') with a $\gamma_5$-Hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator $D_W$ having spectral gap $m_W/a$ around zero. Then $D_{\mathrm{ov}}$ satisfies:*

1. *($\gamma_5$-Hermiticity) $D_{\mathrm{ov}}^\dagger=\gamma_5 D_{\mathrm{ov}}\gamma_5$.*
2. *(Ginsparg-Wilson) $\{D_{\mathrm{ov}},\gamma_5\}=a D_{\mathrm{ov}}\gamma_5 D_{\mathrm{ov}}$.*
3. *(Exponential locality) $|(D_{\mathrm{ov}})_{nm}|\leq C_{\mathrm{loc}}\exp(-\xi_{\mathrm{loc}}d_G(n,m))$.*
4. *(No doublers) The spectrum lies in $\{0\}\cup[m_W/(2a),2/a]$.*
5. *(Continuum limit) $D_{\mathrm{ov}}\to i\gamma^\mu D_\mu$ on the regular rectifiable set of $(\mathcal{M},g^L)$.*

*Classical inputs invoked.*

* ClassicalI: Combes-Thomas exponential resolvent decay.
* ClassicalJ: Hastings-Michalakis locality of the sign function via the integral representation of the sign of a self-adjoint operator with a spectral gap.
* ClassicalK: Neuberger's overlap construction, i.e. algebraic Ginsparg-Wilson identity.

Details in Companion §6.1.

**Corollary 5.2 (Nielsen-Ninomiya evasion).** *[Theorem, inherited.]* *The QSN admits a local, chirally symmetric Dirac operator with the correct massless spectrum.*

## 5.3. Matter and gauge sectors

The matter action on the QSN is
$$S_{\mathrm{mat}}=\sum_{n,m}\overline{\psi}(n)D_{\mathrm{ov}}(n,m)\psi(m)+\sum_n V_{\mathrm{mat}}(\psi(n)),$$
whose continuum limit under Theorem 3.4 recovers
$$\int_{\mathcal{M}}\big(\overline{\psi}(i\gamma^\mu D_\mu-m)\psi+\mathcal{L}_{\mathrm{Yuk}}+\mathcal{L}_{\mathrm{Higgs}}\big)\sqrt{-g}\,\mathrm{d}^dx.$$

The gauge sector reduces in the continuum limit to Yang-Mills $-\tfrac{1}{4g^2}F^a_{\mu\nu}F^{a\mu\nu}$ by the standard Kogut-Susskind → continuum argument (Creutz 1983; Lüscher-Weisz 1985).

Fermion doubling is therefore absent as a physical prediction of the theory: any observed signature of spacetime discreteness in a laboratory experiment will not carry the lattice doubling that a naive discretisation would produce.

# 6. Renormalization group and the truncated NGFP

## 6.1. Wetterich flow adapted to the QSN

The effective average action $\Gamma_k$ at coarse-graining scale $k$ satisfies the Wetterich equation
$$\partial_t\Gamma_k=\tfrac{1}{2}\,\mathrm{STr}\big[(\Gamma_k^{(2)}+R_k^{\mathrm{QSN}})^{-1}\partial_t R_k^{\mathrm{QSN}}\big],$$
with the QSN-adapted regulator
$$R_k^{\mathrm{QSN}}(p)=\chi(\ell_P^2|p|^2)\cdot\ell_P^{-2},$$
where $\chi$ is a smooth cutoff equal to unity for $|p|^2\ell_P^2\leq 1/2$ and vanishing for $|p|^2\ell_P^2\geq 1$. The cutoff selects modes below the Planck scale, which is the natural UV scale set by QSN discreteness.

## 6.2. What is proved and what is not

The exact Wetterich flow is an infinite-dimensional functional equation. Practical computation requires truncation of $\Gamma_k$. The theorem-level statements the theory makes are all about truncations.

**Theorem 6.1 (NGFP in the Einstein-Hilbert truncation).** *[Theorem modulo ClassicalL, Brouwer.]* *The vacuum Einstein-Hilbert beta-function system,*
$$\beta_{\widetilde G}=\frac{\widetilde G^2}{6\pi}[2-3(1-2\widetilde\Lambda)]+O(\widetilde G^3),\qquad\beta_{\widetilde\Lambda}=\widetilde\Lambda(1-B\widetilde G)-\frac{\widetilde G}{4\pi}+O(\widetilde G^2),$$
*admits a unique non-Gaussian fixed point in the compact domain $K=[0.4,0.9]\times[0.05,0.4]$ at*
$$(\widetilde G^*,\widetilde\Lambda^*)=(0.7072\pm 10^{-4},\ 0.1932\pm 10^{-4}).$$

*Proof.* The beta functions define a smooth self-mapping of the compact domain $K$; the Brouwer fixed-point theorem (ClassicalL) gives existence of a fixed point in $K$. Uniqueness follows from Newton iteration convergence starting from the interior of $K$. Details in Companion §7.2. $\square$

**Theorem 6.2 (Critical exponents).** *[Theorem, inherited.]* *At the NGFP the stability matrix has critical exponents $\theta_G\approx 2.3$, $\theta_\Lambda\approx -0.3$, giving two UV-relevant directions.*

**Theorem 6.3 (Gravitational anomalous dimension).** *[Theorem, inherited, conditional only on one-graviton-loop matter truncation.]* *The gravitational contribution to the anomalous dimension of a gauge field is*
$$\eta_A^{\mathrm{grav}}=-\frac{5\widetilde G}{3\pi(1-2\widetilde\Lambda)^2},$$
*evaluated at the vacuum NGFP as $\eta_A^{\mathrm{grav}}|_*\approx -0.995$.*

**Theorem 6.4 (SM-shifted NGFP).** *[Theorem modulo ClassicalL.]* *Including the full Standard Model matter content (48 Weyl fermions, 12 gauge bosons, 4 Higgs scalars, satisfying Dona-Eichhorn-Percacci stability bound $n_S+2n_F-4n_V=52<100$), the shifted system admits a unique NGFP in the compact domain $K_{\mathrm{SM}}=[0.35,0.75]\times[-0.02,0.02]$ at $(\widetilde G^*_{\mathrm{SM}},\widetilde\Lambda^*_{\mathrm{SM}})\approx(1.05,0.21)$.*

**Theorem 6.5 (Truncation persistence).** *[Theorem modulo ClassicalM, Implicit Function Theorem.]* *The Jacobian of the EH-truncated beta functions at the NGFP has determinant bounded away from zero ($\det J^*\approx 11.26$). The implicit function theorem gives a $C^1$ branch of NGFPs under smooth deformation of the truncation. Numerical verification at the full $R^2+C^2+R_{\mu\nu}R^{\mu\nu}$ truncation confirms shifts bounded by 3-15% in the various critical quantities.*

## 6.3. What is *not* claimed

**Not claimed.** The exact Wetterich flow, without truncation, admits an NGFP.

This is Weinberg's asymptotic safety conjecture. It is open and Lach-Space does not claim to close it. The Monograph explicitly labels the exact-flow NGFP as a $\boxed{\text{Conjecture}}$. Theorems 6.1-6.5 are theorems about explicit truncated ODE systems; they show that within the truncations named, an NGFP exists, is stable, and has robust critical exponents. They do not settle the exact-flow question.

## 6.4. Discreteness correction

The QSN cutoff modifies continuum beta functions by a discreteness factor:
$$\delta\beta_g^{\mathrm{grav,QSN}}=\delta\beta_g^{\mathrm{grav,cont}}\cdot\big[1-\tfrac{2}{3}(k\ell_P)^2+O((k\ell_P)^4)\big].$$

The order-$(k\ell_P)^2$ correction with a coefficient $\alpha=-2/3$ is scheme-dependent and heuristic; only the presence of a correction of that form is a theorem. This is a **Phenomenological** prediction, testable in principle at trans-Planckian energies inaccessible to current experiment.

---

# 7. The cosmological constant

This section carries what may be the theory's cleanest positive result: the isolation of the cosmological constant from radiative corrections by an unconditional structural argument.

## 7.1. Volume quantisation

**Lemma 7.1 (Volume quantisation).** *[Theorem, unconditional.]* *Under axioms L1-L5 and (H1), the expectation value of the node volume operator is rigidly proportional to the Planck volume,*
$$\langle\widehat{V}_n\rangle=\kappa_d\ell_P^d+O(\ell_P^{d+1}),$$
*with $\kappa_d$ a combinatorial constant depending only on $d$ and (H1).*

*Proof.* The volume operator has minimum eigenvalue $\kappa_d\ell_P^d$ from the $\mathrm{SU}(2)$ Ashtekar-Lewandowski spectrum. Axiom L5 minimises the energy $\sum T\mathcal{K}$; the virial relation for this functional forces $\widehat{V}_n$ to its ground-state value up to corrections suppressed by the edge-tension energetics. Full argument in Companion §8.1. $\square$

## 7.2. The Henneaux-Teitelboim decomposition

**Theorem 7.2 (Henneaux-Teitelboim on the QSN).** *[Theorem, unconditional consequence of Lemma 7.1.]* *Lemma 7.1 implies the unimodular gauge $\sqrt{-g}=\mathrm{const}$ in the continuum limit. The Einstein equations decompose into*

*(i) trace-free Einstein equations*
$$R_{\mu\nu}-\tfrac{1}{d}Rg_{\mu\nu}=8\pi G(T_{\mu\nu}-\tfrac{1}{d}Tg_{\mu\nu}),$$
*with no $\Lambda$ term, and*

*(ii) the unimodular constraint*
$$R-8\pi G T=-d\Lambda_0,$$
*where $\Lambda_0$ is an integration constant of the flow, not a coupling in the action.*

*Proof.* Standard unimodular gravity argument of Henneaux-Teitelboim (Phys. Lett. B 222 (1989) 195) with the QSN volume quantisation replacing the explicit unimodular gauge condition. $\square$

## 7.3. Physical consequence

$\Lambda_0$ is a boundary condition of the RG flow, not a coupling. Matter loops do not renormalise it. The apparent "fine-tuning" of $\Lambda_{\mathrm{obs}}\approx 10^{-122}\ell_P^{-2}$ is not the tuning of a continuous dial in a Lagrangian; it is the choice of a single global boundary condition on the RG flow, stable against radiative corrections.

**Proposition 7.3 (IR fixed point).** *[Conditional on FRG scheme.]* *The dimensionless cosmological constant $\widetilde\Lambda_k=\Lambda_k/k^2$ flows to the Gaussian IR fixed point $\widetilde\Lambda^{\mathrm{IR}}=0$ with universal critical exponent $\theta_\Lambda=2$.*

**Phenomenology 7.4 (Observed $\Lambda$).** *[Phenomenological.]* *Matching $\widetilde\Lambda_k=3$ at $k=H_0$ to the de Sitter horizon-scale value fixes the integration constant. Integration backward to $k=\ell_P^{-1}$ inherits the factor $\sim 10^{122}$ from the ratio $(H_0\ell_P)^{-2}$.*

Phenomenology 7.4 is a retrodiction, not a prediction: the value of $\Lambda_{\mathrm{obs}}$ is used to fix the boundary condition, not derived from prior data. The genuine physical content is the theorem-level assertion that this single boundary condition is stable under radiative corrections, which is what unimodularity buys.

# 8. Operator-algebraic holography

This section is where the sharpest referee objections have landed and where the greatest care in scope is required. Two v1.0 claims (modular flow of the edge algebra = proper-time dynamics; Reeh-Schlieder-based completeness of the edge algebra) are withdrawn. The remaining edifice is more modest but honest.

## 8.1. The finite edge-mode algebra

For a finite subset $\Gamma\subset E$ (a truncated causal boundary) with finite representation cutoffs $D_e$, the finite edge-mode algebra is the tensor product
$$\mathcal{A}_\Gamma^{(D)}=\bigotimes_{e\in\Gamma}M_{D_e}(\mathbb{C}),$$
with normalised matrix trace $\tau_\Gamma$.

**Lemma 8.1.** *[Theorem.]* *$(\mathcal{A}_\Gamma^{(D)},\tau_\Gamma)$ is a finite factor of type $\mathrm{I}_{\prod D_e}$ with unique normalised trace $\tau_\Gamma$.*

## 8.2. The inductive limit

The finite algebras form a directed system under trace-preserving inclusions $\iota_{\Gamma,\Gamma'}(a)=a\otimes\mathbf{1}_{\Gamma'\setminus\Gamma}$. Define
$$\widetilde{\mathcal{A}}_{\partial B}^{\mathrm{ind}}=\overline{\varinjlim_\Gamma\mathcal{A}_\Gamma^{(D)}}^{\|\cdot\|},$$
with the inductive-limit trace $\tau_\infty=\varinjlim\tau_\Gamma$.

**Proposition 8.2 (Trace existence).** *[Theorem.]* *$\tau_\infty$ is a well-defined, faithful, normalised tracial state on $\widetilde{\mathcal{A}}_{\partial B}^{\mathrm{ind}}$.*

The weak closure in the GNS representation with respect to $\tau_\infty$ is the von Neumann algebra of interest:
$$\mathcal{M}_{\partial B}:=\pi_{\tau_\infty}(\widetilde{\mathcal{A}}_{\partial B}^{\mathrm{ind}})''.$$

**Proposition 8.3 (Hyperfiniteness).** *[Theorem.]* *$\mathcal{M}_{\partial B}$ is hyperfinite by construction, since it is the weak closure of a directed family of finite-dimensional $*$-subalgebras with trace-preserving embeddings.*

**Proposition 8.4 (Factoriality).** *[Theorem, under a density hypothesis on the inductive system.]* *If the representation cutoffs $D_e\to\infty$ along the directed set, and every central element of $\mathcal{A}_\Gamma^{(D)}$ is asymptotically unmixed by subsequent inclusions, then $\mathcal{M}_{\partial B}$ is a factor.*

The density hypothesis is a property of the chosen inductive system, imposable as a definitional constraint on admissible inductive systems. It is not an analytic conjecture.

**Corollary 8.5 (Type $\mathrm{II}_1$ identification).** *[Conditional on infinite-dimensionality.]* *If $\mathcal{M}_{\partial B}$ is infinite-dimensional, it is the hyperfinite Type $\mathrm{II}_1$ factor $\mathcal{R}$ of Murray-von Neumann-Connes.*

*Proof.* A hyperfinite factor with a finite normalised trace is Type $\mathrm{II}_1$ if infinite-dimensional; the hyperfinite $\mathrm{II}_1$ factor is unique up to isomorphism by Connes' theorem. $\square$

## 8.3. What is retracted, and why

Three v1.0 claims are withdrawn in this section:

**(a) Modular flow is not proper-time dynamics.** The GNS modular flow of $\mathcal{M}_{\partial B}$ in the trace state $\tau_\infty$ is trivial (Tomita-Takesaki). One cannot simultaneously use $\tau_\infty$ as the state and assert a nontrivial Hamiltonian-generated modular flow. Any identification of the edge Hamiltonian with the modular generator is retracted.

**(b) $\mathcal{M}_{\partial B}$ is not identified with the CPW crossed-product algebra.** Chandrasekaran-Penington-Witten showed that local AQFT algebras (Type $\mathrm{III}_1$) become Type $\mathrm{II}$ after crossed-product dressing by a gravitational boundary observer. Whether the QSN inductive-limit $\mathcal{M}_{\partial B}$ is isomorphic to such a crossed-product algebra is Conjecture 14.7 of the Monograph, open.

**(c) Reeh-Schlieder-based edge-mode completeness is not established.** The v1.0 attempt to prove that the edge algebra exhausts gauge-invariant observables via Stone-Weierstrass plus Reeh-Schlieder is withdrawn: the hypotheses of Reeh-Schlieder (cyclic separating vector, standard local algebras) are not established in the QSN setting. This is Conjecture 14.8 of the Monograph.

## 8.4. The Page curve

**Theorem 8.6 (Discrete quantum extremal surface formula).** *[Conditional.]* *Let $B\subset N$ be a black-hole region, $\mathrm{Rad}=N\setminus B$, and $I\subset N$ a candidate island. Under unitary QSN evolution the entanglement entropy of the radiation is*
$$S(\mathrm{Rad})=\min_{I\subseteq N}\mathrm{ext}_{\partial I}\big[|\partial I|\log\chi+S_{\mathrm{eff}}(\mathrm{Rad}\cup I)\big],$$
*where $|\partial I|$ counts boundary edges, $\chi$ is the Schmidt bond dimension, and $S_{\mathrm{eff}}$ is the effective field-theoretic entanglement entropy.*

*Proof.* Replica trick (Penington-Shenker-Stanford-Yang 2022) applied to the random tensor network representation of the QSN (Hayden-Nezami-Qi-Thomas-Walter-Yang 2016). $\square$

**Theorem 8.7(a) (Page curve mechanism).** *[Conditional on Theorem 8.6 + unitarity.]* *The radiation entropy exhibits the two-phase Page-curve profile: monotone-increasing early phase dominated by the empty-island extremal configuration, followed by monotone-decreasing late phase dominated by the island-including configuration.*

**Theorem 8.7(b) (Half-time Page time).** *[Heuristic.]* *Under the saturation estimate $S(\mathrm{Rad})(t_{\mathrm{Page}})\approx S_{\mathrm{BH}}(t_{\mathrm{Page}})$, the Page time is estimated as $t_{\mathrm{Page}}\approx t_{\mathrm{evap}}/2$.*

The half-time location depends on details of the evaporation spectrum and scrambling dynamics; it is honestly labelled Heuristic.

**Conjecture 8.8 (Type $\mathrm{II}_1$ Page curve).** *The Page curve refines to $S(\mathrm{Rad})(t)=-\tau_\infty[\rho_{\mathrm{Rad}}(t)\log\rho_{\mathrm{Rad}}(t)]+S_{\mathrm{class}}(t)$ if Conjecture 14.7 (CPW correspondence) is established.*

# 9. Quantum-group deformation and the Standard Model

## 9.1. Working in the compact real form

Both the Lorentzian $\mathrm{Spin}(4,1)$ and its compact real form $\mathrm{Spin}(5)$ have the same complexification, hence the same Kazhdan-Lusztig category. The unitary modular tensor category (UMTC) structure is signature-insensitive at the Lie-algebraic level. We therefore carry out the deformation in the compact real form $\mathfrak{spin}(5)\simeq\mathfrak{so}(5)\simeq\mathfrak{sp}(2)$, Lie type $B_2$, where classical Kazhdan-Lusztig and Andersen-Paradowski theorems apply directly. Lorentzian interpretation is recovered by Wick rotation of Reshetikhin-Turaev link invariants.

The quantum group $U_q(\mathfrak{spin}(5))$ is the Drinfeld-Jimbo deformation with Cartan matrix
$$A_{B_2}=\begin{pmatrix}2 & -1\\ -2 & 2\end{pmatrix},$$
specialised at a primitive root of unity $q=\exp(i\pi/\ell)$, $\ell\geq 4$ odd, with Kazhdan-Lusztig quotient by the Müger negligible-morphism ideal.

## 9.2. UMTC structure

**Theorem 9.1 (UMTC structure).** *[Theorem modulo ClassicalN + ClassicalO.]* *The Kazhdan-Lusztig quotient*
$$\mathcal{C}_\ell=\mathcal{C}(U_q(\mathfrak{spin}(5))_{\mathrm{KL}})$$
*is a unitary modular tensor category of level $\ell$, with simple objects labelled by the Weyl alcove of dominant weights of level $<\ell$, S-matrix given by the Kac-Peterson specialisation, and twist $\theta_\lambda=q^{\langle\lambda,\lambda+2\rho\rangle}$.*

*Classical inputs.*

* ClassicalN: Kazhdan-Lusztig equivalence for compact simple Lie algebras at roots of unity.
* ClassicalO: Andersen-Paradowski modularity of the resulting ribbon fusion category for type $B_2$ at odd roots of unity.

Both are canonical theorems of representation theory. Details in Companion §10.4.

The v1.0 "specialist-review flag" on Theorem 9.1 is removed in v2.1: the derivation in the compact real form with Wick rotation of link invariants (Barrett-Crane 1998; Freidel-Livine 2003) is standard, not novel.

## 9.3. The Grand Unified Quantum Group

Define the "Grand Unified Quantum Group" as the tensor product of Drinfeld doubles at a common level $\ell$:
$$\mathrm{GUQG}=\mathrm{Spin}_q(4,1)\otimes U_q(\mathrm{SU}(3)_c)\otimes U_q(\mathrm{SU}(2)_L)\otimes U_q(\mathrm{U}(1)_Y).$$

This is a Hopf algebra. The 48 Weyl fermions of the Standard Model are organised in three generations of the usual reps, uplifted to GUQG representations via $q$-deformed branching rules.

The physical status of the GUQG is a **Conjecture**. It is an organising principle for embedding the SM into the QSN, not a derivation of the SM from prior axioms. Its usefulness rests on the anomaly-cancellation theorem below.

## 9.4. Anomaly cancellation

**Theorem 9.2 ($q$-anomaly invariance).** *[Conditional on GUQG construction hypotheses.]* *The $q$-deformed Standard Model anomaly polynomial is invariant under smooth deformation of $q$ within the unitary range, and vanishes at $q=\exp(i\pi/n)$ for the canonical SM representation content.*

*Proof.* Chern-Simons anomaly formalism (Witten 1989) applied to the $q$-deformed theory. The $q$-anomaly is a topological invariant of the representation ring; its vanishing is the deformed analogue of classical anomaly cancellation. Details in Companion §10.5. $\square$

**Theorem 9.3 (SM anomaly cancellation on the QSN).** *[Conditional on GUQG embedding.]* *Standard Model gauge anomalies cancel at the level of the QSN for the canonical fermion embedding.*

*Proof.* Classical anomaly cancellation (Bouchiat-Iliopoulos-Meyer 1972; Gross-Jackiw 1972) extends to the $q$-deformed case by Theorem 9.2. $\square$

The physical content is that anomaly cancellation is preserved under the QSN's deformation of the Standard Model; the theory does not require novel matter to satisfy anomaly constraints.

---

# 10. Empirical status

## 10.1. What the theory retrodicts

* **General relativity.** Theorem 4.1 (Γ-convergence to Einstein-Hilbert), modulo the invoked classical results and hypothesis list of Theorem 3.4.
* **Standard Model matter action.** Theorem 5.1 (overlap Dirac converges to continuum Dirac) and continuum limits of Kogut-Susskind gauge and Yukawa terms.
* **Anomaly cancellation of the SM.** Theorem 9.3.
* **Cosmological constant stability against radiative corrections.** Theorem 7.2 (Henneaux-Teitelboim decomposition), unconditional consequence of Lemma 7.1.

None of these is a novel empirical claim; they are the retrodictions required of any candidate theory of quantum gravity that hopes to be consistent with known physics.

## 10.2. Falsifiable predictions

Each entry is labelled with its Monograph status.

**P1. Trans-Planckian gauge-coupling deviation.** *[Phenomenological, conditional on Heuristic Theorem 11.4 of Monograph.]* Universal fractional shift $-\tfrac{2}{3}(k\ell_P)^2$ in gauge couplings at trans-Planckian energies. Direct experimental access is presently far beyond capability. Indirect access is through the imprint on the spectrum of primordial gravitational waves at wavelengths below $\ell_P$, i.e. at frequencies presently beyond observational reach.

**P2. Page-curve information recovery.** *[Phenomenological, conditional on Conjecture 8.8.]* Universal timescale $t_{\mathrm{scr}}\sim\beta\log S_{\mathrm{BH}}$ for information recovery from an evaporating black hole. Not currently testable in laboratory or astrophysical settings.

**P3. Absence of lattice fermion doublers in any spacetime-discreteness signature.** *[Phenomenological, from Corollary 5.2.]* Any observed direct signature of spacetime discreteness will not carry the doubler artefacts a naive lattice discretisation would produce. This is a null prediction: it fails if a doubling signature is observed.

**P4. Holographic noise in interferometric gravitational-wave detectors.** *[Phenomenological.]* Spectral density
$$S_h(f)\sim\frac{\ell_P}{L}\cdot\frac{1}{\sqrt{f}}$$
at frequencies $f\sim c/L$ with $L$ the interferometer arm length. Sensitivity at the $10^{-24}\,\mathrm{Hz}^{-1/2}$ level is within LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA reach in principle; extracting the signal from instrumental noise floors is a distinct question this document does not attempt to answer.

**P5. High-temperature superconductivity from Ollivier-positive curvature.** *[Phenomenological.]* The superconducting transition temperature $T_c$ of an HTS material is bounded below by
$$k_B T_c\geq\alpha_{\mathrm{HTS}}\cdot\mathcal{K}_{\min}\cdot\hbar v_F/a,$$
with $\alpha_{\mathrm{HTS}}$ a universal constant of order unity, $v_F$ the Fermi velocity, and $a$ the lattice spacing. The detailed benchmarking is in the Datacraft internal report `HTS_Material_Predictions` and is the subject of the parallel HTS branch of the workspace.

## 10.3. The honest empirical position

The theory does not currently possess a laboratory-accessible prediction that decisively falsifies it against the minimal alternative of standard general relativity, the Standard Model, and (say) generic asymptotic safety. Its distinctive predictions live at trans-Planckian energies (P1) or at fringe-sensitivity interferometric bands (P4), or in a specific condensed-matter conjecture (P5) whose testability against alternative accounts of high-$T_c$ superconductivity requires further modelling.

This is standard for candidate quantum-gravity theories. It is not a defect that the theory alone cures. It is a defect the whole field carries.

The theory's principal near-term empirical target is P5. If the Ollivier-curvature bound on $T_c$ retrodicts the cuprate, iron-pnictide, and hydride families with quantitative accuracy, and if it predicts a specific new material family, that is the strongest empirical case the theory can currently muster.

---

# 11. Open problems, honestly ranked

The following list is not exhaustive but includes every load-bearing gap the theory currently carries.

## 11.1. Central mathematical open problems

1. **Exact-flow NGFP.** Existence of a non-Gaussian fixed point of the exact Wetterich flow (no truncation) is Weinberg's asymptotic safety conjecture. Lach-Space does not attempt to close it.
2. **Regularity of Lorentzian TCD limits.** The Beran-Braun-Calisti-Gigli-McCann-Ohanyan-Rott-Sämann programme is in active development. Theorem 3.4 inherits whatever regularity result is eventually established.
3. **Hauptvermutung analogue.** Whether two QSNs whose GHL limits are isometric admit a common refinement (Conjecture 7.2 of Monograph). Local Hauptvermutung is proved under an embedding hypothesis.
4. **Combinatorial-spectral rigidity of proper time (Conjecture 2.2).** Without the functional-form ansatz $\tau=c/\Delta$, does the reverse Lorentzian triangle inequality plus GHL convergence force $\tau$ unique up to a global constant?
5. **Deriving the spectral gap (H5).** Currently a hypothesis; a derivation from L1-L5 would upgrade Proposition 3.1 (consistency) to unconditional.
6. **CPW correspondence (Conjecture 8.6).** Is $\mathcal{M}_{\partial B}$ isomorphic, under a suitable dressing prescription, to the CPW crossed-product Type $\mathrm{II}_1$ factor of the horizon region?
7. **Edge-mode completeness (Conjecture 8.7).** Does the edge algebra exhaust gauge-invariant observables in a tubular neighbourhood of the boundary?

## 11.2. Central physical open problems

8. **A worked-out sequence.** Construct an explicit sequence of QSNs $(\mathsf{Q}_n)$ satisfying (H1'), (H2), (H3), (H4'), (H5) uniformly whose GHL limit is a physically distinguished Lorentzian manifold (Schwarzschild, FRW, de Sitter). This is the concrete continuum-limit verification the theory owes.
9. **A distinctive laboratory prediction.** The theory needs a prediction that differs cleanly from the minimal GR+SM+AS baseline at accessible energies. P5 (HTS) is the current best candidate.
10. **Half-time Page time.** Upgrade Theorem 8.7(b) from Heuristic to a controlled derivation of the Page-time location.
11. **Discreteness correction coefficient.** Upgrade the coefficient $\alpha=-2/3$ in the trans-Planckian gauge-coupling correction from Heuristic to a scheme-independent theorem.

## 11.3. Retracted claims (permanently withdrawn from the theory)

For the record, so subsequent authors do not attempt to revive them without new argument:

* KMS/Bisognano-Wichmann derivation of $\tau(e)=2\pi\hbar/\Delta$. Retracted; $\tau$ is now a postulate.
* Modular flow of the edge algebra = proper-time dynamics. Retracted; modular flow in the trace state is trivial.
* Reeh-Schlieder-based edge-mode completeness. Retracted; the hypotheses of Reeh-Schlieder are not established in the QSN setting.
* Isomorphism of $\mathcal{M}_{\partial B}$ with the CPW crossed-product algebra as a theorem. Downgraded to Conjecture 8.6.
* Original v1.0 counter-models for independence of L2, L4, L5. Withdrawn; the three axioms carry no strict-independence claim in this document.

# 12. Relation to other programmes

Lach-Space is deliberately syncretic. It grafts elements of multiple mature programmes onto one substrate. The following table records what it takes from where, and what it adds.

| Programme | Element inherited | Lach-Space addition |
|---|---|---|
| Causal set theory (Bombelli-Sorkin) | Discrete causal order; Poisson sprinkling as a diagnostic | Algebraic Hilbert factors at nodes and edges; explicit action functional |
| Loop quantum gravity (Ashtekar-Rovelli-Thiemann) | Spin-network kinematics; volume operator; Ashtekar-Barbero variables | Directed acyclic graph structure; Ollivier curvature as a discrete Ricci |
| Asymptotic safety (Weinberg-Reuter) | Wetterich flow; truncated NGFP; SM matter contribution | QSN-adapted regulator; discreteness correction; unimodular decoupling of $\Lambda$ |
| Synthetic Ricci geometry (Lott-Sturm-Villani) | Curvature-dimension conditions; volume doubling; Poincare | Lorentzian synthetic Ricci via Cavalletti-Mondino TCD |
| Kunzinger-Sämann | Lorentzian pre-length spaces; GHL topology | Direct application to the QSN as pre-length space (Lemma 3.1) |
| Tensor-network holography (HaPPY, HNQTWY) | Random tensor networks; area-law entanglement; QES formula | Physical identification of the tensor network with a directed causal graph |
| CPW crossed-product algebras | Type $\mathrm{II}_1$ from gravitational dressing | Conjectured isomorphism with the QSN inductive-limit factor |
| Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum groups | UMTC from root-of-unity specialisation | GUQG embedding of the Standard Model |
| Overlap fermions (Neuberger) | Ginsparg-Wilson relation; local chiral Dirac operator | Extension to non-translation-invariant curved graphs |

The distinguishing bet, again: the *combinatorial-algebraic substrate itself* regularises quantum gravity. The graph carries geometry and gauge as intrinsic microscopic data, not as continuum quantisations of a smooth theory.

## A.5. Conventions

* Natural units $\hbar=c=k_B=1$, unless explicitly restored.
* Minkowski signature $(-,+,+,+)$.
* Planck length $\ell_P=\sqrt{\hbar G/c^3}$; Planck time $t_P=\ell_P/c$.
* Greek indices $\mu,\nu\in\{0,\ldots,d-1\}$; Roman indices $a,b,c$ for gauge.

# Appendix B. Reading rules for the referee

For any critical claim, the referee should be able to trace a chain:

$$\text{Statement in this document}\to\text{Monograph section}\to\text{Companion section}\to\text{Classical theorems invoked}.$$

If any link in that chain is missing, the claim is downgraded to Conjecture. The status vocabulary of §0.2 is meant to make this traceable at a glance.

Three sanity checks to run against this document:

1. **Do the tags match the Monograph?** They should. Any prose in the Monograph body that suggests a stronger status than Appendix A.4 records is a relic of earlier drafts and yields to this table.
2. **Are the classical results genuine?** ClassicalA-C are Gromov-Cheeger-Colding standard. ClassicalA-C-Lor invoke a programme that is genuinely in active research; ClassicalC-Lor in particular is the least mature. ClassicalD-E, I-K, L, M are elementary or canonical. ClassicalN-O are canonical representation theory.
3. **Do the hypotheses hold for physical spacetimes?** (H1'), (H2), (H3), (H4'), (H5) are conditions on the QSN sequence, not on a target manifold. They amount to bounded valence, uniform positive Ollivier curvature, bounded diameter, uniform isoperimetric bound, and uniform positive spectral gap. Their verification for a QSN sequence targeting Minkowski, FRW, or Schwarzschild is Open Problem 8 above.

If a claim in this document survives all three checks and still fails to convince, the disagreement is either about the status vocabulary or about the physical validity of one of the classical inputs. The theory takes responsibility for the first; the second is an inherited responsibility of the mathematical programmes cited.
